About:

Hawa Mahal, or "Palace of the Winds," is a prominent landmark in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. It was constructed in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh.

The five-story building is made from red and pink sandstone, and its facade resembles a honeycomb with 953 small windows. The windows, known as "jharokhas," are adorned with intricate latticework, allowing royal women to observe street life without being seen. The design also promotes natural ventilation, keeping the interior cool in the hot desert climate. Hawa Mahal's architectural style is a fusion of Rajput and Islamic influences, reflecting the cultural amalgamation of the time. It is part of the City Palace complex and is often visited along with other historical sites in Jaipur. The Mahal does not have a front entrance, and it is generally entered from a side door.

It is considered an architectural marvel and an excellent example of Rajputana architecture. Hawa Mahal continues to attract tourists from around the world, symbolizing Jaipur's historical and architectural significance.
